MODULAR COURSES

The Modular Courses are “Stand Alone” modules where candidate (s) makes a decision to take One (1) module of interest out of the existing modules for purposes of specialization. Candidate (s) is examined only on such a module of interest. On completion, a Modular Certificate is awarded by CILT to the candidate.

The overarching objectives of the Modular Courses are the:

  • Outlining and Explaining of the Key Criteria on which the Learners’ level of knowledge and Skill Capacities to carry out functions are assessed
  • Plan Quality Control and Set Standards.
  • Development of Key Learning Outcomes for the Learner to acquire relevant knowledge of the course.
  • Equip candidates of the programme with the required information, knowledge and skills to practice.

Persons who are desirous of specializing in a particular area can take advantage of the modular programme.

 

Specific Objectives

This course presents the fundamental management knowledge required of managers in logistics and the transport industry. It covers aspects of the internal and external structures of an organisation, the governance of the people within the organisation and those financial and other planning techniques necessary to maintain organizational health. It aims to deliver the understanding and competence of those key elements of management practice that are fundamental to both commercial and non-commercial organizations.

PD02: SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (MODULAR COURSE)

Specific Objectives

This module presents the main principles, concepts and practices of supply chain management and the knowledge required of a manager in the supply chain industry. To make candidates understand what is supply chain and supply chain planning, why it is important in any business, how the supply chain operates and the principles for supply chain improvement. Where appropriate, the course will demonstrate the global nature of the supply chain is emphasized.

This module presents the key aspects of transport operations. It provides the basis for professionals in the transport industry to understand the principles of effective, safe and legal movement of goods and people using the principal modes in a national and international context. The candidates would be able to understand the nature of transport, an appreciation of its supply and demand characteristics and the different ways in which the transport product can be delivered effectively and efficiently.
